The Argenta Reading Series recently began accepting submissions for its 4th annual high school writing contest, which will provide a total of $2,500 to be used to attend an in-state college or university, thanks to support from the Laman Public Library of North Little Rock.
Last year, four works were chosen as finalists from more than 60 qualifying entries. The writers of those four pieces read their work in front of a live audience and a panel of judges, who ultimately selected "Roses" by Favi Alba as the $1,000 winner. Alba graduated from eStem High School in Little Rock in May.
This year's finalists will read March 14 at the Argenta United Methodist Church. Contestants must submit their work by February 15 via email. Complete rules for the writing contest can be found at ArgentaReadingSeries.com/writing-contest.
